james pratt - curator

James is a South Australian actor and musician with over 25 years professional experience in performing arts. From early acting credits with SA Film Corp, James went on to study voice at the Elder and Sydney Conservatoria, as well as completing a Masters in Orchestral Conducting. He has premiered roles with Victorian Opera under Richard Gill, as well as working with Opera Australia, The State Opera of South Australia, WA Opera and the Arts Centre Melbourne. In musical theatre James premiered the role of Fabrizio Naccarelli in The Light in the Piazza at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre, and was an ensemble member and principal understudy in The Phantom of the Opera for many years throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia. He has also assisted and performed with Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival. As a conductor James has worked throughout Germany and Italy assisting and conducting under Maestro Donato Renzetti. In 2013 he won the Edouard Toldra Conducting Competition in Spain, and worked as a conductor at the Royal Ballet Covent Garden in London.
